2009 Spring BWAC Show

I am pleased to announce that I have four new works in the upcoming BWAC 2009 Spring Group Show.

BWAC (Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition) is an organization of (mostly) Brooklyn artists who present several group shows each year. The shows are held in a civil war era warehouse in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn with a commanding view of New York Harbor, including the Statue of Liberty.

The show is open every Saturday and Sunday until June 14, 2009. The hours are 1-6PM. Free admission. Go to bwac.org for more info.

Photograph Showing at Brooklyn Museum

Our Hearts Are With You
2006

I'm pleased to announce that one of my photographs has been selected for display at the Brooklyn Museum starting today and showing through August 10th. It is part of an exhibit called "Click! A Crowd-Curated Exhibition" which includes 78 photos selected from a field of 389. If you have a chance to stop by the museum, take a look -- all of the selected photos are top-notch, include my friend Dena's photo which also made the cut.

Paper and acrylic on Yupo

At my etsy store, I am now selling prints of a few of my collages from last year. I chose three of my favorites to start, but eventually I will have many more available. I am printing them on my HP B9180 and they turn out beautifully. Each print will be limited to an edition of 100 (I'm dreaming big!).

Basic Design Final Project

I just completed a Basic Graphic Design class that I took at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC. It was a great class with many fun projects. The last project was to make a book -- hardbound with fabric. It was not a simple task, but the final result turned out pretty well. The subject of the book is 14 6x6 inch collages that I completed in 2007.

I printed the pages on heavy inkjet paper from Inkjet Art on an HP printer. The reproductions turned out beautifully, in some cases they look better than the originals.

I made a couple of ripped paper collages for the end papers and also to use as a background on the left side of each spread. These turned out very nice.

It is nice to have many of my collages collected in one place. There is nothing like a book to give a tactile weight to one's work.

This is my post for this week's theme (El Presidente) on Scrapiteria. I've had the pleasure of being in charge of the themes this month and it has been great fun seeing what everyone has come up with. One more week to go.

Website Update

50 Fingers

Paper and acrylic on Yupo

I have just updated my website (http://www.craighowarth.com/) with images from my 2008 calendar. For the last five years I have made a calendar which I give away as a Christmas gift to friends and family. This year I printed over 50 and this is the first year that the calendar features my collages. In prior years I illustrated the calendars with my photography. The change was enthusiastically received by everyone. Check out all of the images -- they are in the collage gallery.
